In celebration of Children’s Day 2020, Mrs. Soyebi Oluwakemi Abiodun, founder of SHOKESTA Development Initiative, emphasized the urgent need to address economic inequality and its impact on children’s development. Speaking in an online interview from Abuja, she highlighted that while all parents desire the best for their children, poverty often limits access to enriching environments critical to early development.
Mrs. Abiodun, also the South West Nigeria Coordinator for the International Institute of Chartered Project Management (IICPM), urged policymakers to design effective programs that support parent-child interaction in low-income households. “The parenting divide is growing,” she noted, “and we must understand what works in order to scale interventions that build strong, emotionally supportive homes.”
She described children as “the most precious of God’s creations,” stressing the importance of love, guidance, and consistent discipline. “A child can teach us joy, purpose, and determination. Our duty is to nurture them with care and values,” she said, while extending warm wishes to all children, especially the vulnerable, on this special day.
Mrs. Abiodun also used the occasion to wish a happy birthday to her father, Apostle Dr. Solomon Mustapha Oni J.P. (Baba Sebioba), the General Overseer of Seed of Christ Golden Church. She offered heartfelt prayers and appreciation for his spiritual leadership, along with a special tribute to Prophetess Eunice Mustapha (Mama Sebioba) for her unwavering support and sacrifices.
