Empowerment Through Garment-Making Training

SHOKESTA Development Initiative is set to introduce a vocational training program focused on garment-making to empower vulnerable women and widows. This initiative aims to provide practical skills that can help women build sustainable livelihoods and take steps toward financial independence.

The inspiration for this initiative was reinforced during an empowerment event where the founder of SHOKESTA, Mrs. Soyebi Oluwakemi Abiodun, was seen alongside Dr. Mrs. Adenike Macaulay, CEO of Wakanow, discussing the impact of garment-making on economic empowerment. Their shared passion for skill development highlighted the importance of practical training for women in marginalized communities.

SHOKESTA plans to host the program at its vocational training facility, where women will learn the art of garment-making, tailoring, and basic fashion design. The goal is to equip participants with the tools needed to start their own ventures or contribute meaningfully to the fashion industry.

This training reflects SHOKESTA’s ongoing mission to support vulnerable groups through empowerment, skill acquisition, and compassionate outreach. By focusing on tangible solutions, the organization continues to uplift lives and strengthen communities across Nigeria.
